  • Overview

    Metova, a By Light company, is hiring an Instructor to assist Military Advisor Training Academy (MATA) in providing Fire Support instruction to students of the Combat Advisor Training Course (CATC) located on Fort Benning, Georgia.


    • Deliver instructional content using principles of adult learning with an emphasis on student-centered learning
    • Strengthen the problem-solving skills and critical thinking techniques of individuals completing any training program sponsored by the CATC
    • Provide instructional support by assisting military lead in preparing the classrooms or training areas in advance of instruction. Pick up and return training devices as needed.
    • Conduct individual performance evaluations, monitor and report student small group performance, and identify any instructional modifications needed to the designated course leadership.
    • Provide a written After Action Report (AAR) within one week following each course.
    • Engage students in a variety of activities, exercises, conversations, and discussions that challenge the traditional way of seeing problems and applying solutions leveraging the eight competencies a facilitator is expected to have:
      • Prepares for training delivery
      • Creates a positive learning climate
      • Establishes credibility as facilitator
      • Adapts teaching to what participants know and how they learn
      • Focus on learning objectives
      • Facilitates learning by encouraging participation
      • Employs a variety of teaching tools and techniques
      • Ensures learning outcome
    • Be willing to work flex schedules up to 40 hours per week including weekends and Federal holidays

    Required Experience/Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 Years of Joint Fires experience (6 years of additional Joint Fires experience can substitute for a degree)
    • 4+ years Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve JTAC or JFO experience in performance of JTAC duties.
    • Certifications / Licenses: Current JTAC-I rating or previously held JTAC-I.
    • Must have related Fire Instructor experience.
    • Must have served as 13F or 11C MOS in Army or equivalent services functional area.
    • Must have experience preparing intelligence activities, target processing, observer target lists, and assisting in formulating offensive and defensive fire support plans.
    • Should have knowledge in rotary wing, fixed wing, ordnance, and surface to surface based fire support.
    • Must be familiar with military command and control structures.
    • Must possess a valid civilian driver’s.
    • Must have the physical capabilities (be able to walk short distance up to 400 meters) to perform JTAC instructor duties.
    • Must possess land navigation/map and compass skills sufficient enough to read and locate points of interest and targets etc., using latitude and longitude and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates.
    • Excellent communication skills.

    Preferred Experience/Qualifications

    • Current or previously qualified Joint Terminal Attack Controller/ Joint Fires Observer schoolhouse or unit instructor
    • Recent Combat experience with ground maneuver forces
    • Expert in Joint Fires doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures (e.g., JP 3-09, multi-service TTP - JFIRE, J-SEAD, BREVITY, KILLBOX)
    • Staff planning experience including interoperability, joint and combined warfare
    • Experience with execution and monitoring of military operations Courseware and syllabi development experience.
    • CAS qualified or certified experience (rotary-wing preferred) (Army Aviation Attack Procedures (AAAP)
    • Staff experience at a Combatant Command, Major Command, or Joint Staff.
    • Office computer skills.

    Special Requirements/Security Clearance

    • Current SECRET security clearance required

    Physical Demands

    • Must have the physical capabilities (be able to walk short distance up to 400 meters) to perform JTAC instructor duties
